Corinthians has secured a new partnership with Konami Digital Entertainment Inc which will see the firm’s PES brand be featured on the back of the Brazilian side’s shirts.

As a result of the agreement, Konami has become Corinthians’ official global partner, expanding on its current deal with the club as an official video game partner. This means that Konami will have more integrated marketing and branding opportunities both on and off the pitch.

“Our working relationship with Konami so far has been extremely successful from a licensing perspective. We are very excited about the expansion of this partnership and we welcome them as our new official sponsor,” stated Andrés Sanchez, president of Corinthians.

“We can’t wait to start the next phase in our relationship with Konami and create fun and exciting content that fans and football lovers will enjoy.”

In addition to the brand being featured on the number of the official kits, Konami’s PES logo will be included on the back of all training uniforms and under the Nike logo on the team’s travel uniforms.

Takayuki Kubo, president of Konami Digital Entertainment commented: “Corinthians shows how football navigates between cultures and generations, and we are proud to be an official sponsor of this extraordinary team. This new chapter in this joint venture will offer new experiences to our fans and will allow us to reach new fans through PES.”

The deal means that Corinthians will remain a part of the PES franchise for its 2021 edition which means that the game will continue to feature the club’s logo, players and stadium. In recent years a variety of football video games have been attempting to secure exclusive rights to clubs in order to enhance the title.

Last week, PES rival FIFA struck a deal with both AC Milan and Inter Milan for exclusive rights to use its branding for FIFA 21. Meanwhile Juventus’ contract with PES means that the EA game cannot use the italian champions’ branding with it being exclusive with Konami
