UK Athletics has announced data provider Microplus as the title sponsor for the upcoming UK Athletics Championships.
Acting as the trials for the upcoming Olympic Games, the Microplus UK Athletics Championship is set to take place in Manchester on 29-30 June 2024. As title sponsor, Microplus will provide support at the event.
The company has over 20 years of experience operating at high-profile sports events worldwide. Since 2022, Microplus has collaborated with UK Athletics on its national Championships.
They have also been involved in various athletics events and multisport gatherings globally, including the Commonwealth Games, Mediterranean Games, Universiade Games and EYOF. Microplus’ services include a Central Results System (CRS), Timing & Scoring On Venue Results System (OVR) and Commentator Information System (CIS).
Mauro Cedrani, Microplus CEO, commented: “We are excited to once again engage with UK Athletics for the Microplus UK Athletics Championships. The continued partnership represents an exciting opportunity for us to contribute to the growth and success of the sport while engaging with passionate athletes and fans.
“This year’s championships will be particularly engaging with the added attraction of Olympic slots up for grabs and we look forward to helping to bring that engagement to a wide audience.”
With 41 UK titles at stake over the course of two days, the event promises a weekend full of action. Athletes will be competing for their spot on the team for the Olympic Games while also continuing their preparations ahead of the Paralympic Games.
Cherry Alexander, Strategic Lead for Major Events at UK Athletics, said: “We are delighted to announce Microplus as the title sponsor for the Microplus UK Athletics Championships, following on from the success of the Indoor edition of the event.
“We have a strong partnership with Microplus which has developed at our national championships over the last few years, and we are thrilled to be continuing that at this prestigious event in the summer.
“We would like to extend our thanks to Microplus for their support and we are thrilled to be working with them at the Championships in Manchester next month.”
“The Microplus UK Athletics Championships will be an event not to be missed with places on the squad for the Olympic Games up for stake, and a number of athletes vying for the Paralympic Games also in action on the track and in the field.”
Each athlete will have added pressure to gain a spot on the Olympic team this year. Earlier this year, World Athletics announced that it would become the first international federation to award prize money at an Olympic Games, with gold medalists to receive $50,000.
