Ahead of this weekend’s 27th Super League Grand Final, the Rugby Football League (RFL) has confirmed that the final’s perennial home of Old Trafford will remain for the next three years.

The RFL announced a new deal that will see Manchester United’s home stadium remain as the host venue of the Super League Final for the next three years until 2027.

Rhodri Jones, Managing Director of Rugby League Commercial, said: “It’s perfect timing for us to be able to confirm this extension as we look forward to another fantastic occasion at Old Trafford this weekend, with our biggest Grand Final crowd for at least seven years.

“Rugby league’s relationship with Old Trafford stretches back well beyond the Super League era and since 1998 it has gone to another level as the Grand Final has become established.”

Old Trafford is synonymous with the Super League Grand Final. Barring the 2020 COVID-impacted final which was moved to Hull’s KCOM Stadium, the 75,000+ capacity stadium has hosted every final since 1998.

This year’s final between Wigan Warriors and Hull KR will be the 27th final to be held at Old Trafford, with the new deal ensuring the stadium will also host all finals leading up to its 30th in 2027.

Amongst the Old Trafford announcement, Jones also unveiled the Rob Burrow Award for the Player of the Match for this weekend and all future Super League finals.

Burrow spent over 15 years as Scrum-Half for Leeds Rhinos in the Super League where he helped win eight Super League championships. He was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019 and passed away in June 2024, but not without raising awareness of the disease and raising money for specialist treatment for motor neurone disease.

“It will be another opportunity for rugby league to remember Rob and also to pay tribute to all the other players who have won the Harry Sunderland Trophy at Grand Finals, and before that Premiership and Championship Finals,” added Jones.
