Yesterday, it was confirmed that former Liverpool Manager Jürgen Klopp will become the new Global Head of Soccer for Red Bull

Klopp will hold an advisory role for Red Bull football teams, such as RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg and New York Red Bulls, lending his expertise on coaching development, playing philosophy and transfer strategy.

The former Premier League and Champions League winner will not be involved in the day-to-day operations of Red Bull and will begin his new role on 1 January 2025.

In a statement via his Instagram account, Klopp stated: “A few months ago I said I don’t see myself on the sidelines any more and that is still the case. But I still love football, I still love working and Red Bull gives me the perfect platform for that.”

“I want to learn again. Because when you are on the job and you have to play every three days you barely have the time. I want to see, feel and figure out what is useful for football, developing football a little bit as well.”

Not only will Klopp’s global influence on football enable Red Bull to continue its development of the five clubs it owns a majority of, but also potentially expand its reach into new countries.

Oliver Mintzlaff, Red Bull CEO of Corporate Projects and Investments, believes that Klopp’s appointment will be a “game changer” for the company’s reach.

He said: “Jürgen Klopp is one of the greatest and most influential figures in world soccer, with extraordinary skills and charisma.

“In his role as head of soccer, he will be a game-changer for our involvement in international soccer and its continued development.”

Red Bull acquired a minority stake in Leeds United this year and as part of the deal, became the club’s official front-of-shirt sponsor, marking its first move into English football.

With Klopp’s extensive experience of English football due to his nine-year tenure as Liverpool Manager, Red Bull will almost certainly leverage this to help drive Leeds’ promotion back to the Premier League.
