German Bundesliga champions, FC Bayern Munich have become the latest European football giant to launch its brand shop on Amazon

The partnership which has been utilised by the likes of Real Betis and Napoli to boost global expansion, will initially only see Bayern’s Amazon offering available on the German site, Amazon.de.

However, alongside the FC Bayern online shop and the Chinese online shop on Tmall Global, it is the third digital sales channel in the merchandising sector.

Jörg Wacker, Executive Board member for Internationalisation and Strategy with responsibility for merchandising and licensing commented: “Our goal is to be present where our fans are, the Amazon marketplace is very important for eCommerce in Germany. Online marketplaces play an important role in our merchandising strategy.”

To start with, the range comprises around 100 products and includes both merchandise from the regular range and articles produced exclusively for distribution on Amazon. The highlight of the product range is a special back-of-shirt flock print with the signatures of selected players or the signatures of the entire team for the current season.

Having already booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League, Bayern take on Ajax tomorrow evening looking to ensure they top the group. Niko Kovac’s side have also endured an unusually tough start to the league campaign, as they currently sit nine points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.
