Horse racing media group HBA Media has secured wide visibility for one of its flagship French assets, the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, known simply as “the Arc”.
A total of 37 broadcasters will cover the Arc, taking place on 6 October at the ParisLongchamp Racecourse. Domestic coverage will be provided by the M6 and BFM Paris outlets, including on-site coverage, alongside the Equidia racing media group.
In the UK, free-to-air network ITV and pay-TV outlet Sky Sports Racing will showcase the entire race day. The duo are the flagship racing broadcasters in the UK, alongside the dedicated Racing TV outlet run by Racecourse Media Group, and provide coverage of a number of prominent races, many of which are handled by HBA.
Frank Sale, Managing Director of HBA Media, said: “France Galop’s continued hard work and investment into the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is richly rewarded with a comprehensive global distribution.
“This strong distribution is the result of the Arc’s inclusion in the Crown Jewels Racing (CJR) broadcast package, which showcases 18 of the best horse racing events in the world.
“This collaboration of premium international horse racing has seen the introduction of eight first time broadcasters and a total 37 media channels all providing significant exposure across multiple linear and digital networks.”
Further European exposure has been guaranteed via deals with Virgin Media in Ireland, BBC Radio 5Live in the UK, RAI in Italy, WeDoTV in Germany, Switzerland and Austria (DACH), Skillnet in Georgia, Polsat in Poland, Kanal 75 in Sweden and Setanta in the Balkans.
Coverage throughout the rest of Europe will be provided by Eurovision Sport, the OTT platform operated by the European Broadcasting Union. This is the first time the event has partnered with Eurovision, which will distribute the fixture in 20 markets it has previously not been covered in.
This is not the only first tie deal. New partnerships have also been inked with Fox Sports in the US, ESPN and Disney+ in Central and South America, AbemaTV, Fuji TV and The Green Channel in Japan, Sportsnet in Canada, Viaplay in Scandinavia and the Netherlands, NTV in Mongolia, and SportsMax in the Caribbean.
In Australia, Racing.com will cover the event, coupled with the OTT channels operated by international gambling group Entain – active in Australia via its Ladbrokes Australia brand and actively seeking a bigger foothold in racing streaming in the country. Entain will also distribute the event in New Zealand.
Delphine Violette, Director Commercial and Marketing for France Galop, said: “France Galop is delighted to note the growing international exposure of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, one of the world’s greatest races.
“This success with international broadcasters and television viewers rewards the work of France Galop’s teams in organising this event, and the collaboration with HBA that began in 2022.”
