Before the start of the 30th MLS season this weekend, the league and Audi have announced they will continue to grow soccer in the US after the last decade of partnership.
Since 2015, Audi’s strategic investment in the league and its youth development initiatives has played a key role in developing the careers of emerging talent, enabling MLS players to fuel the league’s expansion.
One collaborative initiative between the MLS and Audi involves the MLS Club Youth Academies. It was supported by an investment by Audi to remove financial barriers to enable young players access to the sport, whilst also launching the Audi Performance Centres to help talent train and gain academic support.
MLS revealed that since 2019, Audi has raised more than $5m for US soccer youth development which has seen 430 academy graduates transition from the youth ranks to the first-team professional level.
MLS Commissioner Don Garber, commented: “Audi has been an exceptional partner and game-changer for Major League Soccer over the past 10 years, helping grow the league and investing in the next generation of talent.
“Their commitment to youth development through Audi Goals Drive Progress has opened doors for so many young players, and their support for our clubs and fans has made a real impact. We’re excited to celebrate this milestone together and can’t wait for what’s ahead.”
With the league now on an upward trajectory, with clubs such as Inter Miami, LAFC and La Galaxy growing in valuation, Audi stated it will continue to support MLS’ growth by allowing young fans to gain greater access to attend games.
“Audi believes in the power of performance—on the field, in communities, and in the lives of young athletes,” said Daniel Weissland, President of Audi of America.
“Our decade-long partnership with MLS reinforces our commitment to help support the growth of the sport in North America, investing in young players, and strengthening the league’s connection to its fans.”
