The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has formed a partnership with ITA Airways which will run until December 2024.

The press conference for the launch took place in the great hall of the Federal Technical Center of Coverciano, with President of the FIGC, Gabriele Gravina, and Chief Executive of ITA Airways, Fabio Lazzerini, in attendance.

Gravina commented: “Today we celebrate a partnership that has very deep roots – a sort of natural union between our federation and ITA Airways.

“ITA Airways, in fact, communicates the image of Italy and its excellence throughout the world, and the Italian national football teams are proudly part of this great system.”

The deal sees the company become the official carrier of the Italian national football teams, taking care of all air travel for the next two football seasons.

All the national teams, male, female, youth, futsal, beach football and esports will use ITA to reach the competition venues of the international tournaments.

Additionally, the Italian Referees Association, the Technical Sector and the Youth and School Sector will also be among the beneficiaries of the agreement, which also provides ‘special concessions’ for the movements of the Federcalcio’s ‘business travel’.

“I agree with the president of the FIGC and the coach of the Italian national team that millions of Italians think they know how to do our job better than us,” added Lazzerini. “Seriously – being here in Coverciano is really exciting and this project is the culmination of a long work already started some time ago and which we are making official today.”
