DAZN has made the latest major move in its strategy for French sports media leadership by appointing former Canal+ Managing Director, Brice Daumin, as CEO for both France and Switzerland.

Shay Segev, DAZN Group CEO, confirmed the news via a Linkedin post which was subsequently shared by Daumin. Segev pointed to Daumin’s 25 year experience in French and Swiss media as being a key asset for the firm moving forward.

Daumin first joined Canal+ back in 2007, beginning his tenure with the leading French sports media outlet – which is also active in other European markets as well as French-speaking countries in Africa – as a Customer Centre Director.

He would later become a Key Account Sales Director for the company’s French operations before becoming Managing Director of Canal+ Suisse in September 2013, filling this role for 10 years until October 2023.

In his social media post, Segev praised Daumin’s ‘extensive in-market knowledge across DAZN’s strategic imperative’, specifically in the areas of customer focus, commercial development, partnerships, and distribution.

He joins DAZN as the company continues to grow its presence in France, finding a large audience for its OTT streaming offering by clinching co-exclusive rights to the Ligue 1 football division and most recently the Professional Fighters League (PFL).

“Brice’s appointment underlines our commitment to France and our growth strategy in what will become another key market for DAZN,” Segev’s statement continued.

“Since our launch in France in August 2023, we have built a portfolio of combat sports, PPV boxing, and top-tier football – including Ligue 1 Uber Eats and the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

“As the largest sports platform in Europe by any measure, we have an amazing set of rights across Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, UK, Belgium, France, Switzerland, and Portugal. Brice’s joining will only help strengthen our position as the ultimate sports destination platform.”
