DAZN has signed a global distribution agreement with the World Rally Championship (WRC) in a further boost to its media portfolio.

The OTT sports streaming platform will distribute Rally.TV globally, with the exception of a few countries, those being Estonia, Finland, France, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden, China, Hong Kong, Japan and the UK.

DAZN will take Rally.TV to over 200 markets as either a standalone package or as an add-on to its user existing subscriptions, with on-demand content made part of the platform’s freemium offering.

WRC Promoter Managing Director, Jona Siebel, remarked: “Teaming up with DAZN as a distribution partner offers us the ability to significantly increase the reach of our Rally.TV platform.

“As Rally.TV enters its second year now is the time to take the next step in building the reach of Rally.TV and this relationship with DAZN will assist us in achieving that.”

DAZN has been stepping up its offering in the area of subscription ad-on services, with the WRC Rally sitting alongside NFL Game-Pass, PGA Tour Pass and FIBA’s Courtside 1891.

Rally.TV further complements the group’s subscription activities by delivering over 30 weekends of live rallying a year. The channel covers the FIA WRC, FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RC) and FIA European Rally Championship (ERC).

DAZN has been building itself up from an initial challenger to the traditional broadcast system upon foundation back in 2016, to become a major player in the international sports media space.

The company has established a substantial media rights portfolio encompassing various sports and leagues, including world championship boxing and domestic rights to Italian Serie A and French Ligue 1 top-flight football, and has also entered the betting space.

Shay Segev, DAZN Group CEO, said: “DAZN’s scalable and best in class technology is ideally suited to creating destinations for sports fans, with our ability to reach millions of users across 200 plus territories, while creating bespoke and localised experiences in core markets.

“This multi-year partnership with Rally.TV will create a global home for their exciting and compelling competitions, helping rally fans better access the sport they are so passionate about, while creating new engagement opportunities for WRC to access potential fans.

“This is the latest in a series of long-term channel deals that sees DAZN innovating and enhancing the way rights holders can increase exposure and develop their sport commercially and digitally.”
