The third boxing bout between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will be broadcasted on Netflix on 11 July from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The Jake Paul-founded Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and Netflix came to an agreement for the Taylor and Serrano bout to be streamed live globally on the platform, which has over 300 million worldwide subscribers.

This is not the first time MVP and Netflix have joined forces to broadcast a live boxing event. In November, Netflix dipped its toes into the live sports broadcasting sector being the broadcast partner for Paul’s exhibition boxing match against Mike Tyson

Taylor and Serrano fought on the undercard of the Paul vs. Tyson event, with the Irishwoman coming out on top via unanimous decision to retain her status as the Undisputed Super Lightweight world champion.

The second fight between the two boxers was hailed as the best fight of the night in November, and will now headline an all-female boxing card in July on Netflix.

“This is more than just a fight – it’s a celebration of the unmatched talent of women in boxing,” said Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, Co-Founders of MVP.

“This all-women’s card is not only a testament to how far the sport has come but also the beginning of an even greater push from MVP to elevate the next generation of female fighters. Unlike other incumbents in boxing, we have, are, and will always champion women as equals to men, treating them with supreme respect and we will never compromise on those values.

“Thank you to Netflix and MSG. We’re honored to bring this groundbreaking event to life and remain steadfast in our mission to build and invest in lasting opportunities for women in boxing. This event is the definition of W.”

The third installment of Taylor vs. Serrano being on Netflix further fuels the streaming platform’s growth as a viable live sports broadcaster.

Despite for many years the streaming giant committing to sports-adjacent documentaries and shutting down talks of live sports broadcasting, it wasn’t long before Netflix marked its first major foray into live sports last year.

Off the back of its live sports debut with Paul vs. Tyson, Netflix have since broadcasted two NFL games on Christmas Day and kickstarted a 10-year deal with WWE to broadcast its flagship programme RAW

Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, added: “At Netflix we’re proud to continue to elevate the profile of women athletes and to bring another historic event to our global audience with MVP.

“Taylor-Serrano 2 was not just one of the most thrilling fights I’ve ever witnessed; it also made history as the most-watched professional women’s sports event in the US.”
