Tennis just became more accessible after American cable network Tennis Channel selected Sportradar as its partner of choice to power its tennis streams.

Sportradar will develop a new direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming platform for US tennis fans by using its technology to incorporate dynamic data feeds and user-focused features, aiming to launch the platform by early 2024.

By utilising its OTT solution, Sportradar will help expand Tennis Channel’s DTC service by ensuring connectivity to TV apps like Samsung TV, Fire TV, Roku, and Apple TV, as well as providing video encoding for all events and collaboration with relevant third parties.

Patrick Mostboeck, SVP, Audiovisual at Sportradar, commented: “Tennis fans in the US deserve a dynamic viewing experience that delivers the best tennis content and live matches right to their fingertips.

“With Sportradar’s industry-leading data-driven, end-to-end OTT solution, Tennis Channel will have all the tools and capabilities to meet the needs of their fans all over the US. We are thrilled to work closely with Tennis Channel to deliver a platform that allows them to continue to grow engagement with the sport of tennis.”

What’s more, Sportradar will optimise the platform to scale with the growing Tennis Channel subscriber base with a variety of features such as multi-channel video programming distributor integration and dynamic advertising for effective monetisation.

Sportradar and Tennis Channel began their partnership back in 2019 when the media company became the network’s global data partner.

After 15 years in the business as a sports OTT provider, Tennis Channel represents only a fraction of Sportradar’s lengthy partnerships portfolio, which includes deals with the NHL, Nascar, B1G Network, as well as FanDuel.

Andy Reif, SVP, Tennis Channel International, added: “Tennis Channel has a longstanding relationship with Sportradar as we’ve worked together to bring Tennis Channel’s unparalleled coverage of the sport of tennis to markets outside the US.

“Now, we’re extremely excited to work with them to bring our flagship linear Tennis Channel directly to tennis fans throughout the US via a new, best-in-class streaming platform, something they haven’t had the chance to enjoy before.”
