Los Angeles Dodgers has signed a partnership with STARLUX Airlines, granting the Taiwanese airline marketing exposure in California after an expansion of its operations to the state.
The company has been named a ‘proud partner’ of the MLB side, gaining a permanent pavilion roof sign at Dodger Stadium as well as other in-stadium signage on the middle and outfield wall.
This coincides with the launch of STARLUX flights between Taiwan and Los Angeles. These flights will see Dodgers-themed amenities such as meal packaging, playing cards, eye masks, luggage tags and boarding passess distributed from 1 June 2024.
Corey Norkin, LA Dodgers Senior Vice President, remarked: “The Dodgers are pleased to welcome STARLUX Airlines to our partnership family and we look forward to the launch of their new Los Angeles flight.
“The Dodgers have a rich history across Asia and welcomed the first Taiwan-born player to the team in 2002, so we are beyond thrilled to welcome our first Taiwan-based airline more than 20 years later.
“This partnership will give Dodger fans across the globe an opportunity to experience the best of Dodger Stadium and STARLUX Airlines throughout the season and we’re honoured to be partnering with them.”
This is the second major marketing arrangement signed this month to see the Dodgers play a prominent role. The team’s game against the San Diego Padres is set to see the debut of the MLB’s league-wide advertising partnership with Japanese hospitality firm JTB.
The Dodgers are one of the oldest teams in the MLB and have played in California’s largest city – and the second largest in the US – since 1958, after relocating from the New York City borough of Brooklyn.
STARLUX hopes to take advantage of the Dodger’s status as an ‘iconic’ franchise in LA and ‘one of the most popular sports teams’ in the city to promote its new transpacific flight service from Taiwan to the US West Coast.
STARLUX CEO, Glenn Chai, said: “As a new airline entering the U.S. market, we are very happy to cooperate with the Los Angeles Dodgers. This will not only bring Asian fans closer to this popular sports team, but also let the fans of the team know STARLUX Airlines.
“We will be able to promote our service from Taipei to the many major cities in Asia, and to take the high-quality local brands on board our flights to the world.”
