Leeds United will continue to wear Adidas kits for the next several years after agreeing a partnership extension agreement with the German sportswear brand.
Adidas first partnered with the EFL Championship club ahead of its return to the Premier League for the 2020/21 season and will remain the club’s kit manufacturer for an undisclosed number of years.
The extension comes off the back of Leeds announcing record-breaking sales of its current yellow away kit manufactured by Adidas, selling 15,000 shirts in the first day of release.
Morrie Eisenberg, COO at Leeds United, said: “Everyone at the club is incredibly excited that we have extended our partnership with Adidas.
“We have built such a strong relationship over the last few seasons, and it is great that we can now continue collaborating with the fantastic team at adidas.
“The brand is one of the most recognisable names in sport, and we have really enjoyed working alongside them on not only kit designs and launches but also limited-edition ranges such as Originals and the recently released Spezials range.”
As well as designing Leeds first-team kits for the next several years, Adidas will also continue to manufacture training kits and provide the Yorkshire club with apparel to be available on both the Adidas retail store and the official Leeds United club shop.
Christopher Walsh, VP of Brand at Adidas, added: “We are thrilled to extend our successful partnership with Leeds United. Leeds United is a club with a rich history, and a passionate fan base, and we are proud to be a part of their journey.
“We look forward to creating more iconic kits and apparel that excites and energises fans both in the UK and around the world. Together, we will continue pushing boundaries in performance, style, and innovation on and off the pitch.”
Whilst Leeds currently sit second in the EFL Championship aiming for a return to the Premier League, the club has been busy off the field to help secure new financial optimism.
Following its acquisition by 49ers Enterprises, the club has received investment from a range of US sports stars, from golfers Jordan Speith and Jordan Thomas, to NBA MVP Russell Westbrook.
The club also received a kit makeover this season after agreeing a deal with Red Bull Group for the global energy drink brand to become its front-of-shirt sponsor, which may have led to the record selling away kit this season.
