Since Lionel Messi arrived in Miami in 2023, Inter Miami have improved on the field, expanded its portfolio of sponsors, and may now have a new naming rights sponsor for its new stadium.
Inter Miami is reportedly holding negotiations with Nubank to award the naming rights to its home stadium.
The deal is worth a reported $19m per-year across a 10-year contract, valuing the deal at a total $190m. Brazilian Journalist Josette Goulart first reported the deal which could come into effect next year.
If agreed, the Brazilian digital bank would acquire naming rights for Inter Miami’s new stadium, Miami Freedom Park, located near Miami International Airport. The Major League Soccer (MLS) team currently play their home games at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
Nubank, which currently has 127 million banking customers as per Q3’ 2025, has been planning a US expansion. Receiving naming rights to one of the MLS’ most popular teams home stadiums could significantly boost its visibility in the country.
For Inter Miami, their current naming rights sponsorship agreement with JPMorgan Chase for Chase Stadium expires in 2026. Nubank would provide additional capital for the David Beckham-owned club as Inter Miami does not receive direct funding as part of the current JPMorgan Chase deal.
Instead, the US bank provided a $650m loan to Inter Miami which included naming rights for Chase Stadium. Almost 70% ($450m) of the loan is being used to construct the new stadium, while $200m is used to refinance debt and cover operational expenses.
Goulart’s initial reporting highlighted that if a deal can be agreed, it would represent one of the largest fintech sponsorship deals outside of Brazil.
Inter Miami growth on-and-off the pitch
Set for its first MLS Cup Final under the leadership of Lionel Messi on December 6 against the Vancouver Whitecaps, Inter Miami have gone from strength to strength since the Argentinian’s arrival in the summer of 2023.
Messi has significantly contributed to Inter Miami’s performances on the field, and has helped elevate the team to become the MLS’ most valuable football club. As of May 2025, Forbes estimated the club’s valuation to be $1.2bn, increasing tenfold from its $585m-$600m valuation in 2022 before Messi arrived in Florida.
The club has invested heavily within its sponsorship inventory, having more than 20 official sponsors. The most notable partners include kit manufacturer Adidas, Chase, and new sponsors such as Red Bull and Royal Caribbean.
The new 25,000 capacity Inter Miami stadium is set to open in April 2026 and will become part of a $1bn project inside Miami Freedom Park.
Messi will continue to play for the club at the new stadium after renewing his contract with Inter Miami for a further three years last month.
“It makes me really happy to stay here and to continue with this project that, besides being a dream, has become a beautiful reality — playing in this stadium, at Miami Freedom Park,” said Messi.
“Since I arrived in Miami, I’ve been very happy, so I’m truly glad to keep going here.”
