Behind the Badge: Diving into Chile’s commercial landscape with Colo-Colo

Women’s football, business development and the ‘biggest front of shirt deal in Chilean football’ were front and centre of the agenda in the latest episode of the Behind the Badge podcast.

Recorded at the SBC Summit Latinoamérica, the podcast’s regular host, George Harborne, was joined by SBC Noticias’ Fernando Noodt to talk to Samuel Perez, the CCO and CMO of Chilean Primera División club Colo-Colo.

Historically one of Latin America’s biggest betting markets, Chile is no stranger to sportsbook sponsorships, and Colo-Colo’s agreement with Coolbet was one of the most significant and valuable the market had seen.

However, unexpected legal changes last year saw alterations to rules around sports sponsorships. Whilst most clubs can maintain their partnerships, this backdrop has created some unique commercial challenges for Chilean football clubs.
