Swedish gaming company Betsson has partnered with OFI Crete FC, its latest in a long-running series of sponsorship deals in the Greek sports scene.

In a significant moment for the company, this marks its first ever partnership with an individual team in the Greek Super League. Football has been a core focus of Betsson’s Greek marketing efforts in Greece for some time.

The firm’s football activity thus far has included a three-year partnership with the Greek Cup, as well as an agreement with the second-tier Super League 2 and support for amateur football across the country.

Michalis Bousis, President of OFI Crete FC, said: “Securing a sponsorship with Betsson, an international brand, is a significant achievement and a great honour for our club.

“This three-year partnership is particularly meaningful as it coincides with our upcoming 100th anniversary celebration next year.

“Having Betsson’s support is invaluable, and I am confident that together, we will achieve many great things, furthering the legacy of our beloved team.”

Greece is one of Betsson’s core markets, with the company being a first mover back in 2021 under the new regulatory framework introduced by the Greek government at that time.

Its expansion in the following years has been underpinned by extensive marketing and brand building in Greek sport.

The company’s campaigns have not been limited to football, however, also partnering with the WRC Rally Acropolis, the Cycling Tour of Greece, and the AEK BC and Aris BC basketball teams.

“We are excited to embark on this journey with OFI Crete FC,” said Thanos Marinos, Managing Director of Betsson Greece.

“As we’ve done in other sponsorships, our commitment goes beyond financial support; we aim to engage with the community and support the team in achieving their goals.

“This partnership represents a new chapter for Betsson in Greek football, and we look forward to a fruitful collaboration.”
