Former Newcastle United and England striker Alan Shearer has become the latest football ambassador for bookmaker Betfair

Shearer becomes ambassador for Betfair in time for EURO 2024, which begins tomorrow (14 June) in Berlin, Germany.

The record Premier League goalscorer will preview EURO 2024 games and offer his insight into the results that follow, as well as informing Betfair’s audience on his views on England’s chances of winning its first international tournament since 1966.

Furthermore, the Premier League winner with Blackburn Rovers will also be a part of Betfair’s Football Only Bettor preview show. Joining Alan McInally, Shearer will analyse upcoming England and Scotland games during the tournament.

Having won the Golden Boot award during England’s run to the semi-finals at EURO 1996, Shearer will bring his knowledge of the tournament to Betfair customers to inform them of what it takes to make a deep run in the competition.

In an episode of the Betfair Betting Show, Shearer revealed to McInally his experience playing under manager Terry Venables during EURO 1996.

He then went on to believe that England “could and probably should have the best front six” at EURO 2024, “possibly in world football”.

Shearer was also recently voted as England’s greatest striker of the last 30 years according to a YouGov survey, beating out the likes of Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane and Teddy Sheringham

Moving away from Europe, Betfair recently signed a new front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with Brazilian club Vasco da Gama

The deal will see Betfair’s logo branded on the front of Vasco da Gama’s first team shirts throughout the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A season, with the betting firm also producing exclusive digital content and a presence across the team’s digital media platforms.
