Ascot has announced BetMGM as the title sponsor for the Clarence House Chase Raceday on 20 January.
As part of the deal, BetMGM will sponsor the £175k Grade 1 feature contest ‘BetMGM Clarence House Chase’. Shishkin was the last winner of the iconic race in 2022 beating Energumene, which saw trainer Nicky Henderson coming out on top over Willy Mullins.
Following the abandonment of last year’s raceday, prize money is set to be a record £415k across the seven races – an increase of 13% from the £366.4k on offer in 2022. The UK-based online casino and sportsbook plans to sponsor five other races, including the £60k Grade 2 ‘BetMGM Mares’ Hurdle’.
Felicity Barnard, Commercial Director and Deputy CEO at Ascot Racecourse, said, “We are thrilled to welcome BetMGM on board as raceday sponsors at Ascot and look forward to working with them across the BetMGM Clarence House Chase Raceday. We are excited about growing this relationship with them and their support is crucial in helping us to deliver record-breaking prize money for the day.
“The BetMGM Clarence House Chase is always one of the highlights of the season and it is shaping up to be another high-class running of the race.”
Premier League Darts announced BetMGM as its title sponsor earlier this year adding to the betting company’s portfolio of sponsorships, which includes other British horse racing events such as the All-Weather Championships that is currently in its 11th season.
Former jockey and ITV and Racing TV pundit, Megan Nicholls partnered with the betting firm to become a brand ambassador last year, proving its dedication to growing the sport of horse racing in the UK.
Sam Behar, UK Director of BetMGM, commented: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Ascot for such a prestigious fixture. It’s a proud moment for BetMGM to be title sponsor for this huge event in the racing calendar, further solidifying our commitment to horse racing. Now we just can’t wait to watch the action, hopefully with a fantastic battle between Jonbon and El Fabiolo!”
