Southampton Football Club has confirmed a partnership with global financial firm Ebury that sees the latter supplement the Premier League club with its payment capabilities.
Ebury will support the club through its expertise in global financial operations and looking to support the wider Hampshire small business community.
As part of the partnership Ebury will also have access to LED and Big Screen advertising around St Mary’s Stadium. By leveraging Southampton’s position as a Premier League club, the Ebury brand will be visible to hundreds of millions of supporters across the world.
Ebury is a global financial services firm that empowers businesses to trade and grow internationally. It offers a comprehensive suite of products including international payments and collections, business lending, and FX risk management.
Dave Driver, Southampton Football Club’s Finance Director, commented: “We are pleased to be partnering with Ebury – an exciting and innovative leader in financial services – to not only strengthen our own operations, but also to collaborate with an organisation that’s committed to supporting the wider Hampshire SME community.
“By sharing expertise and fostering collaboration, we hope to drive growth and success for businesses, both on and off the pitch.”
Ebury has looked to football partnerships to significantly enhance its exposure across the sports market. It has inked similar partnerships with other football clubs, such as Rangers FC, PSV Eindhoven and AS Monaco.
The payment company offers cross-border international payments for its partners to accelerate these transactions across the globe. For football clubs, these payment solutions could prove vital for how they operate, in particular for fees regarding player transfers from other countries.
Peter Brooks, Global Head of Sports at Ebury, added: “I am thrilled to announce the latest partnership in our global sports portfolio. Southampton’s rich history as a football club, along with the area’s legacy as a global port, aligns perfectly with our expertise in supporting sporting brands and British businesses with global ambitions.
“We are continuously evolving our product offerings to meet the specific needs of sporting organisations, and our partnership with Southampton allows us to further facilitate this product expansion. We look forward to supporting Saints throughout the season, both on and off the pitch.”
