LIV Golf’s free-to-air coverage will expand to more than 200 markets following a multi-year agreement with DAZN.
Just weeks after the golf league announced free-to-air coverage in the UK via a deal with terrestrial media outlet ITV for the 2025 season, LIV Golf has partnered with DAZN to expand this initiative in several more markets.
The streaming platform will host LIV Golf+, making its tournaments and programming free to watch in over 200 markets. While competitions will remain free, DAZN is developing a paid subscription model that will provide access to premium content and exclusive features.
Scott O’Neil, LIV Golf CEO, said: “DAZN’s cutting-edge technology and unparalleled scale give LIV Golf a significant platform to engage a truly global audience. Our players, teams and schedule span the globe, and it’s important that we continue to connect with fans all over the world as we grow our League in new and exciting markets.”
As part of the deal, DAZN will create a dedicated LIV Golf hub on its platform, operating alongside the league’s standalone service. This space will look to offer a fan engagement portal featuring live broadcasts, archived footage and behind-the-scenes content.
DAZN has also secured exclusive broadcasting rights in Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Portugal, and Switzerland for the Saudi golf league. The media company is also set to use its marketing capabilities to further grow the league’s visibility.
Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN Group, commented: “As a truly global broadcaster, DAZN is dedicated to ensuring that fans in every region can experience the most exciting action from LIV Golf, live and free. LIV Golf+ on DAZN will be available alongside DAZN’s extended free content offering, positioning it within an ecosystem that has already captured the attention of golf fans worldwide.
“This strategic partnership will grow the reach and popularity of LIV Golf, while bringing us closer to building the global home of golf on DAZN.”
A big year ahead
Despite only being three months into the year, LIV Golf has been busy making moves to cement itself as the premier golf league.
O’Neil has played a pivotal role in driving this ambitious start to the year, having become CEO of the organisation in January. Since taking on the role, he has overseen media rights deals with FOX Sports in the US and the ITV agreement in the UK.
Aiming to take the league to ‘new heights’, O’Neil has also led a partnership with Rick Shiels Media. This deal, in particular, highlights the new CEO’s ambition to explore new avenues for exposure, marking the first influencer collaboration for the Saudi-backed golf league.
Amid these commercial partnerships, the potential merger with the PGA Tour looms large. Discussions gained traction last month when representatives from both golf leagues met with US President Donald Trump.
While Trump is eager to see the sport of golf unified, talks are still ongoing and there doesn’t seem to be a resolution in sight. However, Trump’s involvement suggests that this could be the year the merger finally happens as the US President is also an avid golf fan.
