Italy’s National Football Team has signed a new sponsorship deal with retail store chain Esselunga.

The Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGS) announced its new premium partner at the Centro Tecnico Federale in Coverciano. According to the agreement, Esselunga will provide support to all football national teams, including the Azzurri (men’s team) and Azzurre (women’s team), youth, futsal, beach soccer and e-sports teams.

Giovanni Valentini, Head of Revenues at the FIGC, said: “We are proud to present the partnership between the national team and Esselunga, because of the values that have always accompanied the brand in its relationship with its customers and people.

“Its Italian identity and its focus on selecting quality products from our country were decisive factors in linking the Maglia Azzurra to Esselunga.

“Together, I am convinced that we will be able to convey important messages to young people about a healthy lifestyle, through correct dietary choices, which is one of the issues that the FIGC is most committed to, especially in the grassroots football age groups”.

The partnership will also focus on promoting a balanced diet for all Italian sports fans through initiatives headed by Esselunga. Italian-made products will also receive international attention.

“We are truly happy to be able to accompany the Azzurri in the challenges of the coming years, with all the strength of our people and our customers who will be with us, match after match, cheering on Italy,” added Roberto Selva, Esselunga’s Chief Marketing & Customer Officer.

“Sport is passion, commitment, dedication, values that inspire our company every day. Esselunga is proudly Italian and with this partnership, it confirms its vocation for excellence, just as the national football teams represent Italian sport par excellence”.

This is not Esselunga’s only venture into Italian sport, as the firm is already a title sponsor of CONI and the next Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina.
